At 25 years old I was shocked when my doctor explained to me that I had 'adult-onset ADD.'

I was the Valedictorian of my high school class. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of Michigan and never missed an assignment. I earned a black belt in martial arts. I was quickly climbing the career ladder as a Hollywood film editor. And on top of that I could spend long hours and entire days on end "in the zone" immersed in a creative project.

It was also my kryptonite.

If I was working on an intense creative project with a tight deadline I had no problem getting into a state of "Creative Flow," but as soon as the pressure was off it felt completely overwhelming just prioritizing a normal day...even if all I had to do was pay some bills, do the laundry, return a phone call or two, and take out the trash.

This quickly turned from frustration to debilitating anxiety and then to total burnout coupled with a massive dose of suicidal depression.
